It's been in the news....with local cases. Monroe
Ambulance is pleased to provide the latest info as per the Center for Disease
Control.

Monroe Ambulance begins
operation at new EMS Station.
After 50 years of operation at its first EMS station on
Carpenter Place in the Village of Monroe, Monroe Ambulance moved its vehicles
and operation to its newly constructed EMS station located at 100 Ramapo
Street. We moved in and began to operate out of this new, state of
the art facility on Saturday October 13, 2007.
This new facility can house all of our emergency vehicles,
has ample parking for crews and visitors. There are quarters for the crew,
amenities such as showers and a decontamination room. There is a meeting
room which will be used for crew and community training.

Hudson Valley Regional
Emergency Medical Advisory Committee (HVREMAC) Approves Monroe Volunteer
Ambulance for BLS Glucometry.
The Hudson Valley Regional Emergency Medical Advisory
Committee (HVREMAC), a committee of credentialed physicians working to
coordinate prehospital emergency medical care in the Hudson Valley Region, has
approved Monroe Volunteer Ambulance's program to allow its EMTs to be trained to
perform blood glucose testing and provide appropriate treatments. Monroe
Volunteer Ambulance requested a demonstration program and was approved in June
of 2006 by the HVREMAC.
Monroe Volunteer Ambulance EMTs were trained and performed a
trial program from August 2006 through January 2007 under a preliminary
protocol. A revised protocol was implemented in January 2007 based
on findings and input from EMTs, Paramedics, Emergency Room staff, and our
medical director. This protocol was used from January through May 2007.
A final protocol was presented to the HVREMAC on June 4, 2006 which received
unanimous approval from the committee.
Monroe's program will be the basis for this skill being able
to be used by other EMS agencies in the Hudson Valley Regional Emergency Medical
Services Council (HVREMSCO) area.

New EMS Building and Crew Quarters
Monroe Volunteer Ambulance is pleased to announce the construction of its new
home in the Village of Monroe at the intersections of Ramapo Street and State
Route 17M near Stage Road. We are planning on operating out of this
facility during the Summer of 2007. We'll keep you posted!
